Gallery: Back to West Horsley Place!

The Tree Council

September 30, 2024

We had a fantastic (if slightly wet!) time back at West Horsley Place last week with teams from Avison Young, Capital Rise, hgh Consulting, Just Displays, Network Rail, NFU Mutual, Premier Miton, Rendall and Rittner, Tracklements and Vanquis. Our un-deterred-by-the-weather volunteers weeded and mulched an amazing 223 metres of hedgerow – supporting more than young 1,100 trees to flourish. We were also pleased to be joined by a team from LaSalle who braved even more challenging weather conditions the following day to continue with the enthusiastic weeding and mulching of more hedgerow.

During the summer and early autumn (before tree planting season begins again in late November,) these kinds of jobs are especially important to ensure that newly-planted trees and hedgerows establish well and continue to grow and thrive long into the future.

Volunteers were also treated to a short walk around the beautiful West Horsley Place estate, guided by the head gardener. West Horsley Place is a stunning Grade I listed manor house, managed by the West Horsley Place Charitable Trust, set within a 380-acre estate. Many will recognise it as the set location for a number of TV programmes and films, including the popular BBC series Ghosts!

Thank you to our especially enthusiastic and determined volunteers, in spite of the rain!
