This report aims to update and expand on the role of Trees outside woods (TOWs) in the ecology of rural and urban landscapes. The report reviews recent literature and outlines the contribution of TOWs to connectivity and the functioning landscape, considering elements like:
- facilitation of species movements
- spread of pests and diseases
- amount, quality and configuration of TOWs in the landscape.
