Partnership spotlight: Just Displays

The Tree Council

February 27, 2025

We’re proud to partner with businesses that share our passion for the natural world and our ambitions for a greener, tree-filled future. This month we caught up with family-owned company, Just Displays, which strives to minimise its environmental impact while delivering the highest quality products. This includes the innovative Ecosleeve range, designed to solve the challenge of traditional retractable banner stands, which often have a limited shelf-life and are not typically re-usable or recyclable.

Since joining The Tree Council’s mission as a Seed Funder in August 2024, Just Displays have become steadfast attendees at our volunteering days (the coveted title of Champion Mulcher being bestowed to Aija for her amazing efforts during National Tree Week!) and have put their displays expertise to excellent use, making bespoke bibs that proudly put The Tree Council ‘Proud to Support’ logo front and centre.

We asked Managing Director Graham and team member Aija to tell us about their environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities, how they came to partner with The Tree Council and what they like about our volunteering days. But before that, we asked the most important question of all…

What are your favourite trees?

Graham: My favourite tree is the Horse Chestnut – I love its spectacular blossom in spring and the journey from flowering to the moment the conkers drop to the ground. It always brings back childhood memories of playground conker duels!

Aija: Weeping Willow! It’s such a calming tree to sit under.

What keeps you coming back to Tree Council volunteering days?

Graham: The best part of our volunteering days, for me, is seeing young people fully engage, getting their hands dirty, and immersing themselves in nature – the best therapy in the world.

Aija: Being Wheelbarrow King 👑 – Just helping out where I can and seeing people come together to make a difference in the landscape is such a humbling and warming feeling. It makes me feel alive!

Tell us about Just Displays’ approach to ESG and your priorities…

Our ESG priorities focus on reducing waste, using responsibly sourced materials, and promoting circular economy practices. We’re committed to creating sustainable display solutions that not only look great but also make a positive impact on the planet. We obtained the coveted ISO 14001 certification in 2008 and have successfully renewed it every year since – which we’re incredibly proud of. We offer a free recycling service in partnership with the Salvation Army, transforming used display sleeves into new fabric, and a recycling service for retractable banner stands – including third-party stands – where aluminium is repurposed into new products. All proceeds from this service are donated to The Tree Council, supporting vital environmental work.

Why is charitable giving so important to your business model?

Charitable giving is central to our ethos—it reflects our belief that businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to society. Supporting charitable causes allows us to give back to the communities we work in and inspire others in our industry to adopt responsible business practices. Our recycling initiatives directly support The Tree Council, ensuring that our environmental efforts have a wider, lasting impact.

What kind of projects and charities do you support?

We support a variety of projects that align with our values, particularly those focused on environmental sustainability, education, and community development. From tree-planting initiatives to supporting educational programs that promote environmental awareness, we aim to back projects that make a tangible, long-term difference. Our partnerships with the Salvation Army and The Tree Council reinforce our commitment to driving circularity and supporting environmental causes.

Why did you choose to partner with The Tree Council?

Our Managing Director, Graham, discovered The Tree Council after extensive research, searching for a like-minded organisation to partner with. You turned out to be the perfect match, and we couldn’t be more pleased!

Partnering with The Tree Council was a natural fit for us, as your mission to protect and enhance the UK’s tree and hedge population aligns perfectly with our sustainability goals. We feel that trees play an especially crucial role in combating climate change, and by supporting The Tree Council’s initiatives – through direct donations from our recycling services and the sales of our Ecosleeve ZERO and OCEAN products – we can contribute to reforestation efforts and promote biodiversity – key elements of our commitment to a greener future.

Finally, can you tell us more about your innovative Ecosleeve product?

The Ecosleeve range is designed with sustainability and practicality in mind. The Ecosleeve ZERO is the eco-friendly substitute for traditional retractable banner stands, many of which sadly end up in landfill or are incinerated. Made from 100% recyclable materials and loaded with Seaqual graphics -manufactured from 100% post-consumer waste, including 10% ocean plastic – it offers a high-quality, sustainable solution for impactful displays.

The Ecosleeve OCEAN wall graphic system is an eco-friendly alternative to traditional wall coverings, with the added benefits of low installation costs and easy graphic changes. Sizes start from A1 and can scale up to cover an entire wall, making it a versatile and cost-effective solution for businesses looking to combine sustainability with stunning visuals.

We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Just Displays, for the love of trees and nature!
