The Tree Council

March 22, 2024

We had a brilliant day this week when we were joined by teams from our fantastic partners, Brunswick, Ground Control, hgh Consulting, LaSalle, Kind and Co, Kiwa and NFU Mutual, for a sunny day of volunteering at Gerrards Cross train station in Buckinghamshire.

Volunteers got stuck into a range of activities, including planting fruits trees in the station grounds, making wildlife-loving habitat stacks and nesting sites, and creating a wildflower meadow. Some volunteers even opted for a little CPD – learning new grafting skills to propagate community fruit trees!

The day was part of The Tree Council’s Rail Roots initiative, which is supporting environmental regeneration in several railway stations across the UK. The project provides a great way to engage members of the public with the main benefits of tree growing in their local areas, while also increasing biodiversity and canopy cover for local wildlife and creating greener, healthier spaces for the public to enjoy.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us on the day!
