Gallery: Glasbren tree planting day

The Tree Council

February 10, 2025

As a part of our Branching Out Fund, The Tree Council grant to establish trees, hedgerows, and orchards, the community group Glasbren hosted a volunteering planting day the first weekend of February to expand their community orchard and plant hundreds of native saplings.

Glasbren, whose name means ‘sapling’ in Welsh, is a community interest company (CIC) led by the ethics of permaculture – earth care, people care, and fair share – and the principles of agroecology and food sovereignty.

This is the second time the organisation has received support from Branching Out to achieve the second phase of its project, which aims to expand their community orchard. They planted around 75-meter rows of plums, cherries, and damsons, among other species, to diversify and increase the community harvest in the future.

Glasbren HQ is nestled on the cliffs above the Three Rivers estuary in Carmarthenshire, on the historical and majestic National Trust farm, Parc yr Arglwydd – Lords Park.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who joined on the day!
