Gallery: Return to Gerrards Cross!

The Tree Council

October 29, 2024

Volunteers had a fantastic day returning to Gerrards Cross to support The Tree Council’s Rail Roots project. There was a carousel of activities on the day, including hedgerow fruit tree planting and fruit tree training; wildflower meadow maintenance, and the creation of new habitat sites for local wildlife – including dead hedges, habitat stacks and willow nesting pockets!

The Tree Council’s Rail Roots initiative supports environmental regeneration in railway stations across the UK and we’re grateful to Chiltern Railways’ Community Investment Fund for supporting the project at Gerrards Cross and other local stations. The project is a great way to engage members of the public with the main benefits of tree growing in their local area. It focuses on increasing biodiversity and canopy cover for local wildlife, as well as creating greener, healthier spaces for the public to enjoy.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us! Our hard-working volunteers included representatives from Heylo, Kind & Co, Kiwa, Ground Control, NFU Mutual and Network Rail. Thank you to volunteers from LaSalle who joined us on our second day at Gerrards Cross!
