The Tree Council

March 4, 2024

Huge thanks to our corporate partner team members that joined us for a wet but rewarding day at St Vincent’s school in North Liverpool last week.

St Vincent’s is a specialist school for children with sensory impairments and other educational needs, which in 2021 won the ‘Outstanding Commitment to the Environment’ Award at the Educate Awards. The Tree Council has been working with the school on its fantastic ‘Reclaim the Green Reclaim the Nature’ project, supporting the greening of the school’s grounds and developing projects for pupils to get involved with.

Our brilliant corporate partner volunteers spent the day tree planting, tree pruning and creating new raised willow beds to support the school’s tree growing initiatives. Volunteers also helped to establish one of our 50 Golden Orchards in the school’s grounds, planting seven varieties of golden fruit trees, including golden hornet crab apples and golden delicious apples.

St Vincent’s is also a Young Tree Champions Beacon school, acting as a guide for other schools in the locality that want to deliver inspiring environmental education.

A big thank you to teams from Network Rail, Freeths, OT Group, Rathbones and Witley Jones for your enthusiasm and hard work!
