Researchers at the University of Derby and the University of York investigated people’s values, beliefs and relationships around treescapes and nature connection, and how this impacts the value of treescapes for wellbeing and pro-nature behaviours. By analysing residents’ surveys and focus groups they explored how perceptions and realities of treescapes matter for mental wellbeing in different contexts and locations.
The findings of this research could then be applied within an access – engage – celebrate framework of treescape governance to better understand how treescapes can be managed to bring maximum benefits for humans and nature.
