Last planting season, Tree Wardens supported schools in 10 different locations across the UK to create an orchard or hedgerow in their school grounds and inspire teachers and students to get outdoors, connect, learn, plant and care for trees. We believe that growing a resilient network of schools and Tree Wardens is the best way to create positive, lasting change, so we are delighted to announce that we have 50 orchard tree or hedgerow packs reserved for schools connected with or recommended by their local Tree Warden network. We saw and heard how successful this was last year and can’t wait to see the next generation of Tree Wardens grow!
To apply for these packs, schools simply indicate on their application form that a Tree Warden notified them of the programme and give the name of Tree Warden and the name of the Tree Warden Network or area they belong to. Applications close on Friday 1 October, or sooner if stocks run out, so you have plenty of time to encourage your local schools to order their free pack of fruit-bearing, wildlife-enhancing, carbon-storing orchard or fruiting hedgerow. As well as their free trees and hedgerows, schools will receive an engaging set of resources, designed by experts and teachers, all linked to the national curriculum.
