The Queen’s Green Canopy

Supporting The Queen’s Green Canopy

The Tree Council is honoured to be a partner of The Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique tree planting initiative that was launched to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, encouraging people across the UK to ‘Plant a tree for the Jubilee’ in honour of The Queen’s historic 70 years of service to the nation.

The Queen’s Green Canopy is deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. Following the wishes of His Majesty The King, the initiative will now be extended beyond 2022 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty. This will build on the living legacy of the first planting season, when over a million trees were planted across the nation in Her Majesty’s name.

“The Queen’s Green Canopy is delighted to be partnered with The Tree Council. With their deep expertise in arboriculture, national network of Tree Wardens and vital mission to care for trees and our planet’s future, we look forward to working together to plant trees across the United Kingdom in honour of Her Majesty The Queen.”

Become a Jubilee Partner

We are grateful to our Jubilee Partners who are collectively supporting the planting of an amazing 35,000 trees and 7 kilometres of new hedgerow.

Our Partners support will enable community groups, schools and volunteer Tree Wardens to plant trees, hedgerows and orchards in their own local communities during the 2022/23 planting season, enhancing treescapes across the UK and creating an environmental and cultural legacy in honour of The Queen’s historic 70 years on the throne.

Our Jubilee Partners will also play a key role in helping us celebrate our 50th birthday in autumn 2023, when The Tree Council will be planting 50 golden orchards across the UK, bringing together schools and community groups to plant and care for trees that will provide a bounty of fruit (and food and homes for wildlife) in years to come.

We still have the opportunity for a small number of companies to join us as a Jubilee Partner. As well as supporting vital conservation work, Partners are invited to volunteer planting events during the winter planting season and Tree-L-C events during the summer months, as part of our annual Tree Care Campaign. Partners are acknowledged online and on social media, and have the opportunity to use our ‘Proud to Support’ logo.

To become a Jubilee Partner or for more information, you can email our Development Manager Cat Gransden.
