This pilot aims to determine the best way of providing trees to individuals and organisations who will then plant them on their own land. It will assess the uptake levels and survival rates of trees disseminated via three routes: a Free Tree Scheme; a Subsidised Tree Scheme; and a Tree Planting Advice Scheme, where advice is supplied for trees delivered through already existing funding.
Results will provide research evidence to the UK government as it seeks to increase tree planting and canopy cover.
This pilot is led by Chichester County Council, and replicated by pilot partners at Shropshire Council, Kent County Council and Norfolk County Council.
