What do they mean to us?

The term, Trees Outside of Woodland – on streets, in parks, on farms, even hedgerow trees – covers all the trees across rural and urban landscapes that do not exist in woods and forests.

They are the trees we nearly all come across most often.

But what do they mean to us? How are they important? What influence do they have on our daily lives?

Together with Forest Research and Lestari, we’ve asked a selection of artists and writers to share their thoughts on Trees Outside of Woodland. Have a flick through the beautiful and compelling photo essays below and join in on socials using #TOWandus.
