Learn more and #PlantForOurFuture!

National Tree Week is the UK’s largest annual tree celebration, with schools, community groups, volunteer Tree Wardens and others getting involved to plant thousands of trees across the UK – and you can join in too!

Planting more trees and hedgerows will make a big difference as we work together to tackle the climate and nature crises, but it can be difficult to know where to start. That’s where our free online sessions come in – learn more about tree planting and the wonders of mistletoe, or check out some of the other great webinars being run by our partners to get involved.

Trees and hedges: how to plant them for healthy, happy growth?

When: Monday 29 November, 6pm to 7pm

Join our resident tree expert Jon Stokes and hedge lover Louise Bowe to learn more about tree and hedgerow planting. We’ll discuss why it’s so important to plant the right tree in the right place, show you what heeling in and notch planting actually look like and answer any questions you may have. The session will be held online via Zoom and is free to attend. Register in advance now to book your place!

An evening of flute, forest and film in the Scottish Highlands

When: Tuesday 30 November, 6pm to 7pm

Join us for an uplifting evening in the stunning Scottish Highlands where landscape and creativity collide. Hear from award-winning folk musician Hamish Napier whose music captures the emotion of his Speyside home and is rooted in trees and nature. He will be joined by the photographer, naturalist and guide David Russell who will share highlights from his stunning portfolio of images and films from the Caledonian Forest. Mysterious mistletoe: friend or foe?

When: Friday 3 December, 6pm to 7pm

Dr Chris Thorogood and Dr Roberto Salguero-Gomez from The University of Oxford join Tree Council CEO Sara Lom to explore the mysteries of mistletoe. Learn more about the biology of parasitism and ‘vegetable vampires’ and hear about the cultural significance of mistletoe. We’ll be discussing whether mistletoe in the UK is a friend or a foe and the panellists will be available to answer any questions you might have. The session will be held online via Zoom and is free to attend. Register in advance now to book your place!
