About the network

The East Sussex Tree Warden Scheme was set up in 1985 and now comprises 97 wardens. They organise school trips to woods, tree planting ceremonies, surveys of trees and woods and keep a look-out for problems. One warden maintains a tree nursery, another is encouraging school children to grow trees from locally collected seeds and is looking for planting sites. One group of tree enthusiasts have drawn up a tree strategy for their town.
