About the network

The Monmouthshire Tree Warden Network is supported and coordinated by Monmouthshire County Council. Established in 2026, the network aims to:

• Be advocates for trees across Monmouthshire.

• Get involved in tree planting projects in public spaces.

• Assist with the aftercare of newly planted trees.

• Participate in citizen science projects that monitor tree health and disease.

• Help identify and record ancient and veteran trees throughout the county.

Tree Wardens may choose to get involved in all of these activities or focus on those that interest them most.

Monmouthshire County Council will provide support, training, tools, and opportunities for Tree Wardens to meet, learn from one another, and work together on projects across the county.

Who Can Become a Tree Warden?

You do not need any specific knowledge or experience to become a Tree Warden, just an interest in and enthusiasm for trees and the local environment.

We are currently inviting volunteers from across Monmouthshire to join the Tree Warden Network and help support tree conservation, planting, and monitoring initiatives in their local communities.
