About the network

The Swindon Tree Warden Network, run by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and supported by Swindon Borough Council, is geographically based on the Borough of Swindon. The entire area is covered by the Great Western Community Forest and there is a strategic target to increase canopy cover throughout.

Tree Wardens are local people who are keen to plant, look after and stand up for the trees in their local area. The role is voluntary, so anyone who is interested can decide how much time they dedicate to it and how it fits in with their normal routine. You do not need to be an expert to take up this role, as we will provide knowledge and training, all you require is a genuine interest in trees and the local environment. Activities may include finding potential planting sites, checking the condition of recently planted trees, watering or helping to assess the conditions of woodlands around Swindon. No skills required but an interest in trees, the great outdoors and communicating in a positive way about the project to others would be beneficial. Training will be provided. We can pay reasonable out of pocket expenses for travel and other expenses incurred.
