This is a fantastic opportunity to see our planting sites and learn how to give our trees a helping hand!
We will be maintaining the existing trees near Chew Magna (Exact details via email *).
This Friday we are checking trees we need to replace due to bad weather last year – See below for following Fridays and Sat to get involved in Planting.
You have the chance to find out why woodlands are so important in the fight for a biodiverse UK and what we are doing about it. You will also learn which trees are planted at this site, why we chose them and whats special about them.
The hands on stuff:
We will be removing tree guards, removing the grasses which can suffocate the trees and replacing the tree guards. We will also be EcoMatting – placing cardboard and woodchip around the trees to prevent weeds and to encourage a fungal compost suitable for the trees.
It won’t be too taxing unless you want it to be, but many hands make light work.
We will bring along some light refreshments but do bring your own supplies for the day.
We need your help so even if you can only attend for half a day It will positively affect the ability for this new woodland to host a variety of wildlife and create an amazing habitat over the next 50 years!
10.00 am – 4.00 pm
Please bring lunch, your friendly faces, sturdy footwear and correct clothing for the weather.
Details of the drop off point and parking for the day just a short walk from the road.
Bringing friends and family is fine just get them another ticket but we just need to know for insurance purposes their names and ages.
See you soon!
