Residents of the earliest set of council housing in Bishop’s Castle will be planting an oak tree in Kerry Green on 25 November 2025. This commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the development, originally built on greenfield land and designed to introduce modern standards for family housing and gardens.

Avia May Robertson, this year’s Carnival Queen, will plant the oak sapling. The tree will form part of the Charter Oak project and is supported by volunteers from the Going Wild in Bishop’s Castle group.
